Shelter-Helper Homepage

Dog rescues with over-looked dogs or contact details that they would like listed on my website then please do get in touch.

Breed rescues are listed down the left hand side for anyone who would like to adopt a specific breed of dog.

Down the right hand side you will see all areas of the UK listed. To find your nearest all-breed dog rescue please just click on your area of the country to find one local to you. Simples :o)

Even if you are not in a position to adopt a dog there are many other ways in which to help your local dog rescue. Just find their contact details from my listings and get in touch with them. They will often require help from volunteer dog walkers, fosterers, transporters, fundraisers. The list goes on. So you really can roll your sleeves up and get stuck in.

This website was set up in order to publicise over-looked dogs back in June 2011. Since then things have evolved a fair bit. I am now aware of many more animal issues that I was once ignorant to. There are surely many more issues that I am still ignorant to. I am trying to inform myself, bringing my actions in line with my values.

I now share various media relating to a wide range of human rights, animal rights and environmental issues. They are all linked.

I will always have a soft spot for dogs. I was lucky enough to be brought up with dogs and other non-human animals in my life. This has given me a deep respect for all living beings. After all, animals are `someone’, not `something’.

If I see injustice in the world I feel the need to speak up about it. That is the reason that I set up this website in the first place. I didn’t like what I saw happening to all of the unwanted dogs that were desposed of by our consumerist society. I hate the thought of any animal suffering at the hands of mankind. However, I have come to realise that what happens to dogs is just the tip of the iceberg.

So much horrific abuse is inflicted on non-human animals, yet because it happens out of site, behind closed doors it goes largely ignored. I want to do my bit to try and bust down those doors so people can see the truth of what is going on. I think people are often shielded from the truth which is why these horrific industries continue. However for the animals it’s not that easy to ignore.
